Grand .22 Sporting Rifle Open Shoot 2006
There were a total of 14 entrants to this year's Grand .22 Sporting Rifle Open Shoot and the standard was high. Due to the early adverse weather we all were thinking that the day was to be a wash-out - far from it as it turned out to be a glorious autumnal day. The morning competition proceeded smoothly with the highest score of this session 269 being achieved by S Grant.
The fun activity - stake cutting - was started before lunch with a Semi-auto time of 23.52 seconds for David Yendell & Richard Collins and a magnificent 49.09 seconds for the Bolt Action guys P Elliott & Steve Grant. Quite an achievement as many semi-auto pairs had taken longer.
After Lunch we were joined by new competitors and the standard was again impressive. There was a clear overall winner this session with Vic Thompson achieving a magnificent score of 278. Second place going to Steve Grant with his morning score of 269, just beating S Elliott with 268.
The Stake cutting had an exciting finale with an impressive semi-auto time of 18.62 seconds for Richard Collins & Clive Gordon in the final session.
Thanks to David Steed and Richard Collins for organising the event and ensuring the day ran smoothly. It was enjoyed by all.
